Abstract: Technology ECAP is one of the most efficient technologies for the manufacture of materials with ultra-fine grained structure. Its main drawback is the necessity to make 4 to 5 passes through the channel of forming tool to obtain a high degree of deformation needed for grain is integration. Proposed channel with newly designed geometry makes it possible to obtain even double the amount of deformation during the first pass through deformation tool. It is therefore, possible to ensure much higher efficiency of the whole process. This is completely a new approach to the development of this technology. First stage of research consists of numerical modelling. Newly designed geometry of this tool represents, the first step towards implementation of the ECAP equipment in semi-industrial pilot plant conditions. Results obtained have confirmed that this approach is a good prerequisite for further development of technology for the manufacture of ultrafine grained materials.
