International Journal of Integrated Supply Management (IJISM), Vol. 4, No. 1, 2008

Abstract: A basic research on rationalisation strategy based on fact finding surveys, especially on equates survey has been given little attention in the academic field. Therefore, this research was started in 1990 when the first questionnaire oriented survey in 1995 (the 3rd one in 2000 and the 4th in 2004) was made. The purpose of this paper comprises three aspects: to make the historical trend of logistics rationalisation in Japan clear; to analyse historical trend of rationalisation through time sequence comparison; to analyse characteristics on strategies of warehouse site location. As a result of this research both characteristics and historical trends about rationalisation have been made clear, which is of great significance in terms of contribution to progress of logistics research in this field.
