Abstract: ISO 9000 has become the most commonly used quality management system in the world. The main purpose of this study was to assess registration practices of ISO certification and to identify difficulties, challenges and issues in the implementation of ISO 9000 Quality Management System in a developing Arab country, Oman. The data was collected from ISO 9000 certified organizations in Oman. The participating organizations ranged in size from small to large and included manufacturing, services and other industry sectors. The analysis of the data shows that certified organizations in Oman have performed well in their registration process and have benefited from ISO 9000 Quality Management System's implementation. Main results of the study are reported with implications to organizations, limitations of the research and future directions.
