International Journal of Materials and Product Technology (IJMPT), Vol. 31, No. 1, 2008

Abstract: It is indicated that grinding tools with controlled or optimised abrasive distribution pattern are of excellent grinding performance in improving grit cutting ability or material removal rate and minimising heat generation or thermal damage. Based on the review of the relative achievements in the past few decades, the feasibility of two kind of abrasive arranging methods, grit optimising arranging with grid and grain cluster distribution with desired pattern, is analysed. Furthermore, the application of superabrasive electroplated grinding wheel with desired grain distribution pattern is prospected.
