International Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (IJBET), Vol. 1, No. 2, 2007

Abstract: Lumped parameter model of seated human body was used to study the heart response to impulsive inputs. Acceleration transfer diagrams show a larger acceleration transfer from the head when compared with those due to impulsive inputs at the torso or pelvis in the high frequency range. At low frequencies the acceleration transfer is the largest from the torso. Peak acceleration transfer for the input at the head, torso, and pelvis occurs at 3, 4 and 2.5 Hz, respectively. Its effect can be viewed at, to attenuate the response in the frequency range (1–10 Hz).
