Abstract: A wireless reefer container temperature monitoring system has been designed and is discussed in this paper. In order to make the marine transportation more transparent and efficient, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) provide an independent, powerful and integrated way. This paper first describes general temperature management systems and issues extending to the international transportation security, as well as the development of a smart container. The majority of this paper refers to the proposed network architecture, hardware and software. At the end, the detailed routing protocol and task design are presented. Overall, we focus on proposing a solution of marine cold chain, combined with the latest network technology to bring in a safer and more efficient marine transportation.
