International Journal of Technology Intelligence and Planning (IJTIP), Vol. 3, No. 3, 2007

Abstract: Advances in technology are the vital factor of competitiveness for technology-intensive companies. Therefore, an intelligent system is required to procure information relevant to technologies. However, the information amount has been dramatically increased. It is no longer possible to analyse the information manually. A methodology to improve the acquisition processes for the identification of technology indicators, which characterise and evaluate technologies, is proposed. This methodology is embedded in the innovative Technology Database developed by Heinz Nixdorf Institute. Decision makers can be well informed about advances in technologies by technology reports and technology roadmaps, which are automatically generated from the database.
