Abstract: Deep Hole Surface Finishing (DHSF) is studied by the application of squeeze oil film technology. Based on the fluid lubricates theory the Renault equation of DHSF Squeeze Film Damper (SFD) is established; the squeeze film force is solved by immense short bearing theory and the effect of the eccentricity of SFD on the film pressure distributing is analysed by Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB). The grinding wheel spindle of deep hole surface finishing with SFD is designed based on the theoretical research and experimental research is carried on earlier. The result of the experiments shows that SFD with reasonable design parameters has excellent damping function to the grinding wheel spindle: it can reduce the vibration of the grinding wheel spindle by 30–45%, the quality of the deep hole machining can increase by 10–20% and the work efficiency of the machine can increase by 15–25%.
