International Journal of Learning Technology (IJLT), Vol. 3, No. 2, 2007

Abstract: eUreka (after Archimedes' 'I have found it!') is an institutional web-based knowledge management system for project work. It facilitates knowledge creation, discovery, documentation and management. It also provides an avenue for learning via experiential knowledge derivation and knowledge sharing of institutional knowledge assets. It provides easy-to-use tools for tasks and activities planning, effort and outcomes documentation and collaboration within a project group. This tool enables self- and world-discovery by students and group synergistic experience beyond the boundaries of physical classrooms and laboratories. Such collaboration will catalyse and expedite the process of knowledge learning, transfer, sharing, mentoring, application and, thence, new discoveries, breakthroughs and innovations. Learning by doing while discovering new ideas will facilitate opportunities for students to take learning to deeper depths in building life skills, people skills, higher-order thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
