Business excellence in the beer industry - case of the Czech Republic

Abstract: The paper focuses on the beer industry in the Czech Republic, which can be considered as a case of 'business excellence'. The main objective is to reveal the key drivers of competitiveness in the traditional and mature Czech beer market. Based on the analysis of fundamental Czech beer market characteristics, we discuss the main success factors in business strategies of both large breweries owned by foreign investors and the local ones. The history of the Czech beer industry proves the importance of cultural tradition as the key driver for innovations and long-term competitiveness.
