Abstract: The primary aim was to develop an efficient model supported by genetic algorithm for optimising continuous production of aluminium. The model is built as an upgrade of the production management and planning system and enables planning and determining capacity of human resources and machinery; takes care of material flows from purchase and production to sales; enables control over raw material and product quality in a system where buyers' orders are not fixed and predefined. The built model enables optimisation of production costs and thus the company's profit by taking into account limitations, such as managing and planning of inventories of raw material and products, planning of capacity and optimisation of technology.
