Abstract: Personal Health Records (PHR) have been identified as one of the tools in assisting patient safety. This paper is an exploratory study of different types of PHR to understand how they are related to healthcare systems. Different types of PHR system and their technical specifications were explored. Case studies from this study explained that choice of PHRs is dependent on how healthcare systems wanted to design them, and it was also affected by governmental or political involvement in healthcare systems.
