Abstract: Project performance has always been challenging in the construction industry. Researchers and practitioners are gravelled due to the construction projects' low efficacy and poor performance. The prime focus of this study is to analyse the impact of two important factors, i.e., contractual governance and trust, on the project performance in the presence of the shadow of the future as moderator. The findings of this study reveal that contractual governance and trust impact the construction projects' performance positively and significantly. Moreover, the shadow of the future positively moderates the contractual governance and trust relationships with project performance, thus strengthening these relationships. The expectation of repeated interactions between the parties is very helpful in improving the project performance by strengthening the relationships of both contractual governance and trust with the project performance in the construction sector.
