Abstract: This paper describes the different stages of development and the problems encountered while designing and manufacturing an innovative prototype pylon for high power transmission lines. The pylon is made of a high-strength spun concrete matrix (centrifugal casting process), which is prestressed and reinforced with fibre reinforced plastic elements.
