Designing logistics routes to secure goods delivery in construction projects: cases in Indonesia cement projects

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is how to design the best techniques and methods in planning an efficient route of goods' delivery required to support cement projects in Indonesia. Several methods of multidisciplinary mix-study have been explored, such as content analysis, focus group discussion, expert judgment, and analytical hierarchy process, to clarify findings. The methods have been developed in order to elaborate on eight cement construction projects during the period 2010-2018. The results show that various locations have required different options as Indonesia's geography is that of an archipelagos state. The best-chosen routes as well as the most efficient in terms of costs are by using the Asia-Europe and Intra-Asia route for international logistics. However, this research also recommends developing an alternative domestic route because of the serious level of concern found. This research is appropriate to be applied in the cement projects, but can be used in other projects with several adjustments.
