Abstract: In this work, a new configuration of the hydrogen-R717-water diffusion-absorption refrigeration cycle is proposed, investigated and compared to the basic standard Platen-Munters configuration by numerical simulation. Basing of the results of the exergy analysis, the original cycle is modified by incorporating components for internal rectification heat recovery. The calculations show that the performances of the modified cycle are largely improved: a minimum evaporation temperature of -24°C can be reached with a COP of 0.38, exceeding 50% the performances of the basic refrigerator under similar operating conditions.
