Abstract: In this work, the authors show how a product lifecycle management system may enhance requirement traceability and reuse throughout the product development process. For this, the project of a mortar from the Brazilian army was used as a real-world case study. Based on an analysis of the relationship between the results of an evaluation performed with the Brazilian army and this work proposal, it has been determined that PLM software can be used to manage requirements in projects for the defence industry, with requirements writing serving as a means of guiding product development throughout the project's duration. As a result of this research, it has been shown that the reuse of requirements across complex defence projects is an important tool for increasing efficiency and monitoring project execution. Furthermore, it was highlighted that insufficient tracking is a major issue with reusing requirements in the military, which leads to project management inefficiencies.
