Developing a scale to assess analytical competencies of HR professionals

Abstract: HR professionals play a significant role in keeping the organisation ready to face competition. Specifically, HR professionals are to update, upgrade and acquire the new competencies that are essential to keep the prominence of the HR function within the organisation and take the organisation ahead of the competitors. To take HR analytics forward and implement HR analytics successfully, analytical skills are a must-have. Role and importance of analytical competencies among HR professionals are examined in the present study. Research on HR professionals' competencies is reviewed to understand the research gaps in identifying and measuring analytical competencies. The study attempted to develop a set of sub-competencies to measure the analytical competencies of HR professionals. The results from the study add another vital dimension to the assessment of the competencies of HR professionals. Further, the findings help in measuring analytical competencies towards HR analytics in particular and analytics in general.
