Abstract: Friction is an amazing phenomenon of nature; wear is a crafty enemy of any system which moves or is deformed; fatigue is a stern scourge of modern machinery. Tribo-fatigue is the unifying science that treats friction, wear, and fatigue. In this paper, we present a brief review of some studies lying on the path from tribology to tribo-fatigue. Also presented are new developments in the field by means of entropic characterisation of materials.
