Abstract: Time series data are produced daily in a large quantity virtually in most of the fields. Most of the data are stored in time series database. Time series motif is a frequent or recurrent or unknown pattern that occurs in a time series database used to aid in decision making process. The time series motif mining is a useful technique for summarising additional techniques like classification or clustering process. Recently, diverse techniques have been proposed for time series motif discovery techniques. In which, this paper explores the time series motif discovery using evolutionary techniques in various real time data with its characteristics. The primary aim of this research is to provide a glossary for interested researchers in time series motif discovery and to aid in identifying their potential research direction using evolutionary techniques.
