Abstract: In recent years, augmented reality (AR) is being used in creating distinctive learning environments for students' education. Our paper gives a systematic literature review on AR in educational environments. We considered the features, advantages and challenges of using AR in educational settings. One of the main advantages of AR is that it increases students' motivation, thus improving their learning experiences. Technical and usability issues are reported as the challenges experienced while using AR. There are other advantages and challenges identified from the literature survey, which are discussed in this paper. The paper also reports some of the existing studies of AR for education. Furthermore, it details the present state of art and the opportunities for additional research in AR in education.
