Impact of transformational and transactional leadership behaviour on the organisational performance

Abstract: Every employee influences the organisational direction but leadership styles is the most explicit ramification on the organisation's policies, procedures and practices, which whirls around the empowerment of the employees in terms of the growth and profitability of the organisation. This study analyses the various leadership styles adopted by an organisation at the workplace and also portrays the impact in the development of the organisation. The tool performed was a structured and a close-ended questionnaire comprising of ten key elements covering the study. They are rated on a 5-point Likert-scale ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. The data was collected from a sample of 50 respondents belonging to four companies in Chennai. The data obtained were analysed by use of statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation and t-test. The findings suggested that organisations who follow transformational leadership style and keep employees satisfied achieve high growth and profitability.
