Abstract: The main purposes of the ISO 14000 series of standards are to provide organisations with guidelines to develop environmental management practices and to establish requirements for organisations to accomplish their technological progress goals while exerting the least possible impact on the environment. This study aimed to identify the actors, dynamics, and themes of interest around the implementation and use of the ISO 14000 standards. For that purpose, we carried out bibliometric and network analyses focused on the five-year period. Results showed, on the one hand, the number of publications, countries, and institutions producing related documents, in addition to the academic sources and areas of knowledge where ISO 14000-related studies are published; on the other hand, the network analysis was performed to identify concepts associated with this group of standards based on the keywords used in the reviewed literature. This allowed us to showcase different areas of opportunity related to establishing an environmental management system based on the ISO 14000 family of norms and defining future guidelines to mitigate environmental impact and strengthen sustainable development.
