Abstract: Until now, smart cards and automation networks have been integrated only for authentication and security purposes. This paper describes a proposal based on the idea of a higher grade of integration between the network and the smart card in such a way that a smart card can be used to configure an entire network. Applications of this approach would support future developments of real intelligent, ambient environments.
