International Journal of Nanotechnology (IJNT), Vol. 4, No. 1/2, 2007

Abstract: C-N related nanomaterials have many interesting properties originating from their unique and changeable structure. In this paper, we present the synthesis techniques and properties of the B-C-N related nanostructures mainly including B-C-N nanotubes and carbon nanoparticles. The electronic properties of the ternary B-C-N nanotubes were experimentally controlled by controlling their structure and composition. The carbon nanoparticles with high crystallinity were synthesised at temperatures as low as 250°C and excellent electron field emission properties comparable to carbon nanotubes were achieved.
