Abstract: In order to develop horticulture in arid conditions of South-East and East Kazakhstan with the help of water-saving innovative technologies, we studied the influence of water-retaining polymer 'AQUASORB' on the agrophysical properties of soil. The digital device is used for controlling the physiological indicators of the water regime in 16 species of ornamental tree-shrub and fruit crops in experimental gardens in the arid zones of East, Central and South-East Kazakhstan. It is established that the polymer increases the total and productive moisture reserve in the soil and improves agrophysical properties, creates more favourable conditions for the adaptation and development of wood species, increases the drought resistance of plants in terms of heat resistance, water retention, total hydration and the content of mobile moisture in the tissues of leaves of wood species. The presence of hydrogel in the root layer increases the water-holding capacity of leaves by 11%, by 4%-8% (18%) increases the content of hydration and mobile moisture in each variant compared to the control.
