E-learning: a strategic instrument

Abstract: One major theme for today's competition is looking at firms as learning organisations. internet-based technologies can support and revolutionise the way for learning. As a consequence e-learning assumes a strategic relevance. This paper focuses on the competitive advantages of e-learning, and presents the principal ambits of application and critical factors for implementation, such as motivation and learning-by-experience. Two successful case studies are also presented. E-learning solutions provide firms with helpful instruments for supporting an effective knowledge management, where every moment is part of a learning process.
