Abstract: This paper is based on an application of a Signal-to-Interference Ratio (SIR) based power controller originally proposed for DS-CDMA system extended to MC-CDMA system. Instead of controlling the power of each subcarrier, this algorithm assigns the same level of power to a band of subcarriers allocated to each subchannel. The transmitting power of each subchannel is adjusted individually by providing an independent power and threshold SIR controller based on Fuzzy Genetic Algorithm (FGA). The proposed power control mechanism can be applied to MC-CDMA system in an uplink transmission. This proposed novel technique enhances the traffic capacity and reduces outage probability especially in poor cochannel interference conditions.
