Abstract: Integration platforms are tools developed to support the modelling, implementation and execution of the integration processes, so that data and functionality from applications in software ecosystems can be reused. The runtime system is a key piece of software in an integration platform and it is directly related to its performance, and makespan is a metric used to measure performance in this system. In this paper we propose a mathematical model to estimate the makespan for integration processes that run on application integration platforms built based on the theoretical task-based model. Our model has been shown to be accurate and viable to assist software engineers in the configuration and deployment process of integration processes on an actual integration platform. The model was validated by means of a set of experiments, which we report in the paper.
