Abstract: This review aims to analyse and discuss relevant papers on the relationship between quality-excellence management and innovation. In total, 21 relevant papers concerning innovation and quality-excellence models such as ISO 9001, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA), the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), etc. were selected by means of the methodology Methodi Ordinatio and then fully analysed. The reviewed studies covered applications in different regions around the globe and most of them employed quantitative methods (15), followed by descriptive analyses (3) and reviews (3). Moreover, most of the studies found that some excellence management aspects had positive impacts on innovation whereas part of quantitative papers also found negative or insignificant impacts along with the positive ones. Overall, this review complements and indicates a midpoint of consensus regarding previous reviews on the topic. Companies seeking quality-excellence in management may also benefit from innovation in addition to performance.
