Abstract: A design scheme for a parallel hydraulic hybrid mining truck (HHMT) is proposed, and its energy management and energy consumption optimisation are studied. A rule-based energy management strategy is formulated, and a parallel optimisation scheme is proposed for the HHMT power system parameters and control parameters using orthogonal experimental design (OED) with fuel economy as the optimisation goal under open pit driving conditions to obtain the best parameter combination. The optimisation results are analysed to obtain the influence law of power system parameters, control parameters and driving condition changes on fuel consumption and energy storage/discharge. Simulation analysis shows that the actual vehicle speed can track the target vehicle speed very well. Compared with the original vehicle, this engine operates more in the fuel economy zone, with 11.39% lower fuel consumption. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the energy management strategy and OED for fuel economy evaluation.
