Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) has had significant effects on our world. One of the most promising IoT applications is healthcare. In this paper, a queuing model of a healthcare IoT system subject to wireless cloud connection failure is proposed and the system performance is analysed based on different system parameters. By using the generating function technique, the analytical solution for the system balance equations is derived including the explicit solution of the system empty probability and the recursive solution of the rest probabilities. Some performance metrics of interest are then developed and detailed numerical evaluation for the metrics are performed for further understanding and verification of the analytical results. The proposed system modelling and performance analysis method can serve as a useful reference for the general IoT system design and evaluation.
