Abstract: Under new conditions of unlimited access to information technology, the management of a manufacturing company will be changed to take advantage of new capabilities based on internet, intranet and computing and simulation technologies. A conceptual model of management system, applicable in small and medium size manufacturing companies (SMEs), has been developed. It integrates physical, information and knowledge value chains. Based on this concept, a managerial ''dashboard'' is proposed as a tool allowing a manager to access information from sources inside and outside the company, to check financial/economic conditions and to simulate alternative courses of actions. The tool operates as a hypertext system and includes modules representing the internal operations of company and its interfaces with suppliers and knowledge providers. It also includes a microworlds simulation module and a module of return-on-investment analysis.
