Abstract: Internet of things is rapidly expanding its reach into a multitude of real-world applications putting an onus on using automation to manage devices and processes. Real-world processes are event driven, mobile, time and location aware and often perform social behavioural tasks. Most of the current work on extending business processes to model context concentrate on modelling location and expressing them as events. Modelling context awareness into the business processes includes expressing relations with the environment, resources, and humans; this is in addition to the spatial, temporal, and environmental factors that influence business processes. Specialisations to DataObject, task and pool enable accurate modelling of real-world processes based on the context. A home automation use case is evaluated using the extensions proposed enabling more accurate representation of the operating context. Tasks are enabled to consume context and perform contextual actions natively instead of relying on complex logic based on events and gateways.
