Abstract: Congestion control provides the endpoint the ability to probe available bandwidth and prevents the network falling into severe congestion. But loss based congestion control algorithms designed for multipath transmission protocol have inferior performance if the flow traverses route suffering from random loss. For possible improvement, we present LIA-EN here. The main idea is based on the fact that the congested loss only happens when the buffer is fully occupied and the round trip delay is in its peak in a normal route. By counting loss rate in safe area, LIA-EN determines whether a path contains lossy link. In random loss path, LIA-EN sets the congestion window according to estimated bandwidth delay product instead of recklessly cutting it by half. The effectiveness of the proposed solution is verified on ns3.
