Abstract: This study aims to empirically investigate the factors influencing consumers' intention towards NFC m-payment adoption. Statistics showed that 57% of Malaysians use a smartphone, and since the percentage diffusion of smartphones will increase, this enhances the opportunities in creating a value-added payment method to consumers. The explanations on the factors influencing adoption of NFC include HMSAM, MISC, and absorptive capacity. Since many past studies focused on the basic foundation theories of DOI, TAM, and UTAUT, hence this study will address the technology acceptance in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This paper is capable of enhancing the literature on user-related and system-specific factors pertaining to NFC mobile payments. It delivers valuable recommendations to researchers in their investigations on the issues related to NFC mobile payment besides benefiting industrial practitioners by assisting in advertising campaigns, designing the mobile wallet by focusing on target market's expectations, needs, and aesthetic values and experiences.
