Dielectric study of rare earth doped Perovskite material as an alternative source of energy

Abstract: Perovskite-type oxides are fascinating materials for widespread applications in storage devices, electrochemical sensing and fuel cells. They exhibit striking chemical and physical characteristics such as thermoelectric and dielectric properties, super magnetic, electronic conductivity and electrically active structure. The polycrystalline Eu-modified lead zirconate titanate [PEZT; Pb1-xEux(Zr0.60Ti0.40)1-x/4O3] ceramics with doping of Eu as 0%, 3% and 6%. Preparation of the material was done through the technique of solid-state reaction. Structure of the materials has been analysed through XRD-technique. Tolerance factor was calculated to exhibit the slight distorted structure. Study of dielectric properties was studied within a range of temperature 950°C to 1,250°C and frequency 1 kHz to 1 MHz PEZT exhibits high dielectric constants at very low tangent loss along with the ferroelectric-paraelectric phase transition well above the room temperature. It can be a promising material for future charge storage devices.
