Abstract: This paper presents the results of empirical study on the impacts of supply chain process integration on upstream supply chain performance both directly and indirectly through serial-multiple mediation of information technology links and information sharing with suppliers. Statistical techniques were applied to analyse the data collected from 304 global manufacturing firms from 13 countries in the framework of High Performance Manufacturing Project, round 4 (2013-2015). Both information technology links with suppliers and information sharing with suppliers were found to be independent mediators of the relationship between supply chain process integration and upstream supply chain performance. In addition, information technology links and information sharing with suppliers mediated this relationship serially. This study provides important insights for both manufacturers who seek to improve upstream supply chain performance and suppliers who look for better coordination with manufacturing buyers.
