Inter-continental review for diffusion rate and internal-external benefits of ISO 9000 QMS

Abstract: This study aims to elaborate on the diffusion rates of ISO 9000 QMS registered firms located in each continent of the world. It also strives to examine the main benefits that these firms had obtained after certification. To do this, we examined studies done in East Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, South America, Latin America, and Africa. Our results revealed that countries which were leading in the number of certifications throughout the continents. Our study also found that the motivation and commitment of the managers, the cultural values, time, experience, and education were the main influencers of the effective ISO 9000 QMS implementation, hence, its benefits. Based on our findings, we developed a conceptual model which can be used by future research looking at the same area. The findings are elaborated in the discussion and conclusion parts of the paper.
