Abstract: In this paper, the material and geometrical flexibility effects of a superficial layer overlying a half-space on the tunnel-soil-RC building dynamical interaction due to surface and underground traffic loads are studied numerically. Finite element Plaxis2D software© under conditions of plane strain is used successfully. The material and the geometrical flexibility effects of the superficial layer are studied by varying the shear waves and the depth. The present study demonstrates that the tunnel-soil-structure dynamical interaction is clearly influenced by the superficial layer presence and its stiffness, depth and damping. The tendency of this influence is related to the location of the applied dynamical impact, especially for the building response. These results can be taken into consideration in the study and construction of realistic projects, especially sensitive ones. The accuracy of the numerical modelling results is discussed and validated with previous works in literature.
