Abstract: Wavelet analysis makes it possible to use long-term windows when we need more accurate low-frequency information, and shorter when we need high-frequency information. Since conventional CWT requires considerable power and computation time, including application to non-stationary signal analysis, we used CWT analysis based on fast Fourier transform (FFT). The CWT was obtained using the properties of the circular convolution to increase the speed of computation. This method provides results for long recordings of PCG signals in a short time. The use of the CWT gives a better localisation of the frequency components in the PCG signals than the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) commonly used. This paper presents the analysis of phonocardiogram (PCG) signals using the continuous wavelet transform based on the fast Fourier transform (CWTFT). The performance of the CWTFT in PCG signal analysis is evaluated and discussed in this article. The results obtained show the clinical utility of our extraction methods for the recognition of heart sounds (or PCG signal), and the estimation of pulmonary arterial hypertension. The results obtained also show that the severity of mitral lesion involves severe pulmonary arterial hypertension.
