Abstract: Copper and zinc play an essential part for paddy growth. This study was conducted to identify the amount of copper and zinc availability from three locations and compare the factors that contribute to the accumulation of copper and zinc in soil. Samples were collected from locations that were cultivated by paddy which was an industrial area, a roadside area and an urban area. The soil series that were taken from the industrial and roadside area were labelled as Kuala Kedah series and the urban area as urban series. The mean availability of copper at the industrial, roadside and urban area was 1.052 ppm, 0.905 ppm and 0.326 ppm respectively, whereas the mean availability of zinc at those sites was 1.258 ppm, 5.038 ppm and 1.705 ppm accordingly. The result showed that the content of copper and zinc in those areas were according to the standard and did not exceed the MAL of heavy metal in soil.
