Abstract: The integration of distributed generation (DG) to the utility grid is ever increasing to provide reliable, secured and quality power. The DG minimises peak loads, power losses, loading on distribution network and reserve margin and improves voltage regulation. It is very essential to detect islanding in order to ensure the safety of appliances as well as the personnel working. In this paper, the DC source based DG is connected to the grid and operates in grid connected as well as in islanding mode. When the DG is operating in grid connected mode, the DG provides power to the utility grid at grid voltage and grid frequency. Islanding is examined for this model in seamless operation. The model is developed in MATLAB/Simulink environment and results are obtained. From the simulated result it is shown that the controller and inverters are operating without disturbance in seamless operation.
