International Journal of Management Practice (IJMP), Vol. 2, No. 3, 2007

Abstract: This paper deals with the Research and Development (R&D) management system of the two major research funding organisations in Thailand: The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and the Thailand Research Fund (TRF). Since there are difficulties in exerting an effective pull on the formal R&D system, specific attention is given to the innovative activities along the stages from development to commercialisation. The R&D Management System Model is proposed to deepen an understanding of the relation between the technological capability of the Thai industry, the level of innovation diffusion, and the management of R&D projects. The empirical contribution of this paper is to help R&D managers understand how to manage R&D projects to contribute to technological development in industry.
