Abstract: The aim of this study is to contribute to the scant studies on faculty members' psychological empowerment (PE). This is done by examining: 1) PE from a multi-dimensional perspective based on the individual components and job characteristic components; 2) how PE affects the faculty members' motivation and satisfaction. Further this study examines the bi-directional relationship between motivation and satisfaction. A total of 402 responses were collected from the faculty members working in the technical institutions in India. Hypothesised relationships were examined and established by using the structural equation modelling and rank correlation techniques. Findings emphasise the significant impact of PE on enhancing the faculty members' motivation and satisfaction. Also, there was limited support to determine the bi-directional relationship between motivation and satisfaction. Further, the implication of the present findings suggests that the proposed framework will act as a benchmarking tool to measure the psychological empowerment of the faculty members.
