Innovation in the medical device industry

Abstract: This paper describes the innovation process in the medical device industry and identifies the institutional framework connected to this process. The purpose is to describe the impact of institutionalisation on managing the innovation process and to identify factors influencing diffusion of a medical device technology by describing the diffusion process of four different technologies in the Netherlands.
