Effects of T&D practices on job satisfaction: a study of foreign collaborates operating in India

Abstract: This study is aimed to examine the impact of training and development practices on employee job satisfaction in Indian companies and foreign collaborates from USA, Europe, Japan, China and South Korea, operating in India. The data were collected through survey method from 762 respondents of 282 foreign collaborates and analysed by applying means, standard deviations, Cronbach alpha values and multiple regression. To test the validity and reliability of the data, factor analyses (exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses) were also applied. The results of the study revealed a positive and significant impact of training and development practices on job satisfaction in Indian companies as well as in foreign collaborates from USA, Europe, Japan and South Korea. However, no significant relationship was found in the case of China. Important practical suggestions were given to HR managers, organisations and policy makers for building job satisfaction among the employees with the help of training and development practices.
