International Journal of Environmental Technology and Management (IJETM), Vol. 23, No. 5/6, 2020

Abstract: Sustainability is an important aspect of human development. Based on data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2014 to 2016, the article used the entropy method to calculate the sustainable development capacity of different regions. Furthermore, the paper also distinguished and classified different regions into several groups. The results show that the socio-economic system has the greatest influence on the regional sustainable development capacity. Moreover, China's sustainable development capacity is relatively weak and shows obvious regional differences. In consequence, the Chinese Government needs to find a long-term mechanism to promote the regional coordination, balance and sustainable development.
