World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development (WRSTSD), Vol. 16, No. 3, 2020

Abstract: This paper attempts to study gaps between the quality of engineering education as offered and as required. Observations in the paper are based upon the study conducted to understand the existing system of engineering education and how the total quality management (TQM) approach affects the quality of the same from the perspective of students and faculty. The sample for the study comprised 773 respondents (609 students and 164 faculties). The TQM approach was followed with independent variables, viz: quality management system (QMS), continuous improvement (CI), stakeholder involvement (SI) and benchmarking. The impact of these variables was studied on the dependent variables for students and faculty. The dependent variables for students were corporate and industry connect, faculty quality, placement, and career counselling, those for faculty were curriculum and learning, research, corporate connect and infrastructure. The study being exploratory, analysis was carried out using partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM).
