by Robin Thomas; Shailesh Singh Thakur
International Journal of Business Competition and Growth (IJBCG), Vol. 7, No. 2, 2020

Abstract: The paper attempts to analyse the Indian banking sector based on certain metrics (ratios) which are generally used in the evaluation of banks. The time period of the study is from 2015 to 2019 which covers a five-year period. The evaluation is set on a sample of banks which constitutes the national stock index's (PSU Bank's Nifty index - bank sectoral index traded on NSE) which consists of 11 individual bank stocks. The study deploys panel regression analysis to determine the impact of endogenous bank specific variables (balance sheet and income statement parameters) on bank performance metrics. The result of the study can be generalised for other public sector banks.
